What I have so far for my Buddhist altar?
I’m new to Buddhism, and this is all I have so far, what should I buy next?

(Rudraksha seed, Mala, XL, 16mm)
I’m also going to buy some candles, can they be just plain old candles?
Your personal altar is just that — personal. You might include items that reflect your inspirations and aspirations. You may purchase some items, but a variety of “found” or handmade items might also serve the purpose. Any kind of candle will do.
My altar contains an old wooden statue of Manjusri that I found many years ago; some small clay Buddhas that my daughter made when she was 7 years old; an old lotus seed pod; an incense burner; a nice stone; and a note from my daughter written when she was 13.
Our home altars help support us in our efforts to awaken — and that’s wonderful. But anything can serve this function, in any moment of our lives. For this reason, we can view the whole world as an altar — always there to support and encourage us.
Best wishes in your practice!
